American model Kim Barnouin (co-author of the book) and possibly Victoria Beckham

the theory
This is basically a vegan eating plan. It went to the top of the best-seller list after Posh Spice was photographed clutching a copy.

the plan
Milk, dairy, meat and eggs are all banned. Ditto refined flour and sugars. Carbs, vegetables, fruit, pulses, soya, nuts and seeds are all allowed. The authors have a good swing at Atkins and other high-protein diets. Fruit should be eaten on its own, especially at breakfast time, following the diktat of food-combining where foods are eaten according to how digestible they are.

pros
Some good science like the nugget that most of us lose the ability to digest milk after we are weaned as children, making milk and dairy a questionable ingredient of the diet.
Forces you to think about health issues beyond just getting 'skinny' (a terrible term) which are valid.

cons
Could be hard to stick to for committed meat eaters - most people don't turn vegan without a bit of a battle, and usually because they are very committed and have animal welfare issues in mind rather than weight loss.
Some pseudo-science, such as sugar is acidic in the body. Sugar is patently not good for you, but it is not acidic.

duration
Indefinite - if you can stick it

checklist
restaurants: Yes, with planning
alcohol: Organic red wine
caffeine: Green tea
need to buy special foods: Yes, mostly vegan foods such as tofu
ok for vegetarians: Yes, ideal but you will have to become vegan

the pros say
As long as it is followed sensibly there is no reason for this to be unhealthy, but it runs the risk of becoming food faddy for some people and it could be hard to stick to. You would also need to pay attention to possible deficiencies in this diet, especially vitamin B12, D and calcium.
